Generic Name: Fluticasone propionate

Advair, a steroid delivered by inhaler, is indicated for the treatment of Asthma and COPD. Studies have shown that the use of Advair can greatly increase the risk of asthma-related death and should only be used in patients not adequately controlled on other asthma-inhaler medications.

An alert related to Advair use was originally issued by the FDA on November 8, 2005, and a black box warning was added in March of 2006.
