Generic Name: Dextroamphetamine sulfate

Dexedrine is a stimulant amphetamine indicated for the treatment of narcolepsy and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). Previously used to treat obesity, Dexedrine has been found to be highly addictive, and physicians warn that misuse of amphetamines may lead to serious cardiovascular events and possibly death.

A black box warning was added to Dexedrine's prescribing information by the FDA in August of 2006.
