Foradil, a formoterol fumarate powder delivered by inhaler, is indicated for the treatment of Asthma and COPD. Studies have shown that the use of Foradil can greatly increase the risk of asthma-related death and should only be used in patients not adequately controlled on other asthma-controller medications.

A black box warning was added to Foradil’s prescribing information by the FDA in June of 2006.
