Generic Name: Salmeterol xinafoate inhalation powder

Serevent Diskus, a steroid delivered by inhaler, is indicated for the treatment of Asthma and COPD. Studies have shown that the use of Serevent Diskus can greatly increase the risk of asthma-related death and should only be used in patients not adequately controlled on other asthma-controller medications.

A black box warning was added to Serevent Diskus’s labeling by the FDA in March of 2006.
