NuvaRing is a form of birth control that serves as an alternative to oral medication and the birth control patch. Approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in 2001, NuvaRing is a vaginal ring that releases progesterone and estrogen in a three-week cycle before it is removed for the fourth week.

NuvaRing was originally manufactured by Organon USA, a company purchased by Schering Plough in November 2007. This consolidation makes Schering Plough liable for any damages caused by Organon USA's defective drugs.
